hunting gods, etc.

I've always thought it was interesting at public rituals when everyone is singing about a hunting god or something like that. In my own head I block out those parts of the song we're singing and hear it differently...like instead of "Herne, Herne, horned one, hunter 'neath the morning sun" I hear "Herne, Herne, horned one, la, la, la, protect the animals in the wild"...

While everyone else is being thankful to a hunting god, I'm being thankful to a god that watches over and protects animals.

Anyone else?

There you go , you are recognizing the same God I know , you know Divine Power of Love is not in resonate with violence and hunting is violence in action....however did it come about that we ( i take responsibility for the human race here) decided to become hunters ? we can live off plants ,love ,sunsine ,water and air ....some even are highest light beings to live in this physical and live off air alone .....

Was it some ego trip power over the animals or what ? and I know it didn't start there ........

You are giving true thanks ,not to say that everyone else chanting isn't ,it's just YOU SISTER are questioning the word , which is very powerful and creates .Keep listening you are doing what comes naturally and the act of you transforming these words makes you a in my eyes a very powerful and conscious healer .

Do you practice writing some of your own chants and songs to be sung from your heart ? YOur heartsongs are Real and you have more power to than you realize .

Sure do! The rituals I usually attend are at a fellow vegan's house, so usually everything is already the way I'd like it to be, but when I go to big public rituals, that's when I have to have my own songs handy. I don't sing out loud a different song than what's being sung by everyone else, hehe, I don't want to protest and disturb a nice ritual...But, in my own head I like to sing variations of songs that mean more to me.
