Sorry for those who are in all the same vegan tribes as I am...Sorry to post this everywhere, but some people are in one tribe but not another...
Does anyone know of any organization or charity that will give loans or grants to vegetarians to go to school? I am looking into a couple of things that came up when I did a search, but the more options the better.
I want to go to the Natural Gourmet Cookery School in NYC (they said I can take all veg classes), but I got turned down for the ONE loan they offer through the school (Sallie Mae) because of "not enough income" (so, in order to get a loan, you have to NOT need one) and "bad credit". Anyway, I have no co-signer as my parents are both on disability for health problems and can't co-sign for anything.
Anyway, boo-hoo, yadda yadda, I'm screwed and would appreciate any helpful information that anyone might have.
Thanks.

Re: Loans/grants for vegans?
Fri, October 28, 2005 - 8:14 AMMy credit is awful and I get school loans, did you do this when you were 25? After 25 you can get pell grants and such I believe. -

Re: Loans/grants for vegans?
Fri, October 28, 2005 - 11:52 AMIt's not a regular school loan, unfortunately. It's a sallie mae loan or something like that, and is the only loan offered through the school.
